With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MA), and a Doctor of Psychology (PhD), she specializes in psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments, and therapy for children, teens, adults, couples and families. Her expertise, sensitivity, optimism and insight-driven, collaborative approach help clients improve their daily functioning and thrive in school, relationships and life.
Prior to starting her private practice, Andrea provided individual assessments to children as a school psychologist for the Peel District School Board for more than 10 years. Based on the psychoeducational assessment, she developed recommendations and programs specifically tailored to the student’s learning style to help them perform optimally in school.
Dr. Myrie-Nurse also worked for the Whitby Mental Health Centre’s Outpatient and Schizophrenia units, and the Toronto East General Hospital’s Brief Therapy Unit for more than two decades, using a collaborative model of psychotherapeutic care to help adult patients with a broad range of mental health issues on the path to recovery.
As a professor at the Adler Graduate Professional School of Psychology in Toronto, she has been able to share her expertise and hone her skills as a dynamic speaker, leader and trainer.
Dr. Andrea Myrie-Nurse opened her group private practice, the Mississauga Psychology Centre in 2013. Serving Southern Ontario, its mission is to provide exemplary specialized care and education for mental health issues that promote greater well-being. By doing so, the Centre aims to build healthier communities by helping individuals thrive.
